The biggest name in Hip-Hop and in Pop has now cashed in for a Las Vegas, Nevada. Drake just signed a multi-year residency deal to perform at XS Nightclub at The Wynn. Drake was one of Forbes’ highest-paid hip-hop acts of 2018, making him the 4th spot right behind Kendrick Lamar, Diddy and JAY-Z with $47 million. Drake just released his new album titled “Scorpion” in early 2018 and made waves with his hit single “In My Feelings”. The hit album hit the Billboard 200 album charts in 2018.
Although the official dates of his Las Vegas residency has yet to be announced, the rapper is planning on selling out shows for all of 2019.
On Drake’s last show in Las Vegas, on January 10th, 2019 he announced to the crowd that he would have a residency. He yelled to the crowd, “Vegas! When I came back, I thought it’d be back at T-Mobile Arena…but I’ll be back here at XS all year. You’ll have a lotta chances to see me,” he said, as the audience went crazy. “I make time to make that money!”
Although he has yet to make an official announcement, the odds of a potential residency are very likely, seeing that he reportedly received a whopping $2 million for his 30-minute set the last time he performed. Rumors have swirled that he has agreed to do 12 shows over a span of 2 years at The Wynn, but no details were confirmed nor has XS Nightclub released their full official roster for the year.
“Nice for What,” “God’s Plan” and “In My Feelings” all scored a No. 1 spot on the Hot 100, helping him to collect six No. 1 singles over the span of his entire career. One of his biggest singles, “God’s Plan” was the most-streamed song of 2018, accumulating 1.566 billion on-demand audio and video streams. The rapper also accumulated 7 Grammy nominations to his fair share of accolades, including Record of the Year, Album of the Year and Song of the Year.
Performers who have all had residencies for The Wynn’s XS Nightclub include; The Chainsmokers, Diplo, Marshmello, Kygo, DJ Snake and more.
